T.G.I Pakistan

T.G it's Pakistan for

the adhaan
the masaajid
for the sight of abayas hijabs naqaabs
for the topis and shalwaars
for khutabaat and bayaans
for the traffic jam on a jumuah outside a masjid
for a hard straw prayer mat
for that hot floor that a namazi places his feet on
for that coolness in his eyes as he goes into sajdah
for multiple takbeers i hear from masjids from underneath my khais
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!
for that imam who does the countdown to the fajr
for that imam who checks the mic
and then gives the much awaited maghrib adhan in ramadan
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!
for never having to use and reuse a compass to know where the qiblah is
for never having to worry if the chicken pakoray for aftaar are halal
for the small acts of goodness that a nation in crisis still does
for the largest platters and waste baskets my country hasnt seen so far
for the hot walls, hot floors, hot carpets
for the chest-tightening, rib-touching saff that are formed in a jamaat nonetheless
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!

yes my country does not have the greatest arsenal
and it also doesn't have food for half its people
yes it seems a miracle or a dua is the reason for its survival

but I thank God it's Pakistan
for i hear sweet words of the muaddhin
and i feel the coolness there
but just numb cold here
for i feel full in a long hot saum there
when i hear the echo of the adhaan in the air
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!

Nietzsche

nietzsche was a genius, except that he had a box of missing links, and that he quit too early to come full circle....

enjoy a few of his many musings >

"Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions destroyed."

"In the mountains of truth, you never climb in vain."

"A thought, even a possibility, can shatter and transform us."

"If you know the why, you can live any how."

taken from goodreads.com

laHul mulku -samawaati wa ma fil ardh wa maa bayna huma

"to Allah belongs all that's in the Heavens and the Earth and what's between them. "

at 40K feet, or with -59F outside, or on top of Iceland, you look outside the window and the only thing that comes to your mind is... Allah's here too, and this time and space belongs to Him also.

then you see the stars covering the night sky, the velvet wrapping your plane, and the yellow spots on the little earth growing smaller in front of your eyes, you sitting helplessly in your seat with a mere steel buckle ready to let go of you any time. and the only One you can cross your fingers on is Allah. and again everything in and outside the Boeing 777 belongs to Him and Him alone.

including you, ofcourse.

Ahad Ahad!

Ahad Ahad!

Why shed these tears of sorrow?
Why shed these tears of grief?
Ya nafsy how soon you forget,
After trials come sweet relief
Why turn you from Ar-Rahman?
Why yearn for a listening friend?
Ya nafsy, do you not remember,
On ALLAH, you must depend?
Read you not those stories,
of the trials in days gone by,
Of the Sahabi beloved by Allah,
Who for Allah’s cause did strive?
Why loosen your hold upon him?
Why fling away, His outstretched Hand?
Ya nafsy, do you not remember,
Bilal’s sabr on the blazing sand?
“Ahad! Ahad!” He cried,
While his flesh did drip and burn.
“Ahad! Ahad!” He cried,
To Allah alone he turned.
Forget you the firmness of Hamza,
As the gleaming swords did fall?
With Sabr he turned to Allah,
as the qureish did slice and maul.
Why drown in salty teardrops?
How can you dare compare your pain?
To that of Yasir and Summayah,
As they lay tortured on the scorching plain?
Forget you the charring of Khabbab,
As on burning coals he lay?
Ya nafsy how meager your suffering,
Wherefore do you lose your way?
Why befriend you not Al-Wali?
Why not in Salat to Him complain?
Like Job who only to Allah,
Turned in all his grief and pain?
Forget you those trials in this life,
Cleanse your heart and make it clean?
Ya nafsy, why all this sadness?
Do you not wish your heart to gleam?
Be patient in all your hardships,
Allah hears your cries of woe.
So trust Him and His hikma,
For He knows best and you don’t know.
So tighten your hold upon him,
Lest He withdraw His outstretched Hand!
And remember the example of Bilal,
As he lay anchored on the blazing sand.
“Ahad! Ahad!” he cried,
While his flesh did drip and burn.
“Ahad! Ahad!” he cried,
To Allah alone he turned.

2010-11

MY senior yr in pictures. You will realize it was a lot about eating; and the biggest highlight has been raahim's birth.

You

Some times Our deepest pain can be our greatest blessing! ♥: It is You.:

Your life does not change when your boss changes, or when your friends change, or when your parents change, or when your husband or wife changes, or when your company changes. No, your life changes when YOU change, when you go beyond your limiting beliefs.Examine yourself, watch yourself. Don't be afraid of difficulties, impossibilities and losses.Be a winner; build yourself and your reality. It's the way you face life itself that makes the difference.

husn e sulook

Hate no one, no matter how much they’ve wronged you, Live humbly, no matter how wealthy you become, Think positively, no matter how hard life is, Give much, even if you’ve been given little, Keep in touch with the ones who have forgotten you, and forgive who has wronged you, And do not stop praying for the best for those whom you love.~Hazrath Ali (r)

31-05-2011

as i sit in front of the computer in one corner of university library, i think what this place has given me, and what i have given in return.

i think of books, friends, bonds and ties that never were. some relations that always will remain. some realizations that opened up a world for me which is greater than what can sink into my imagination. a world that's overwhelming me everyday.

i think of this world and how faani it is. how ephemeral, how superfluous. it'll die one day, sooner or later than me. and either it or i will survive and move on.

nothing remains still. nothing holds on. there's a change of events, change of circumstances. and then there is also change of heart, change of mind. nothing holds on. i move on. you move on. we go our ways. nothing stays.

and so shall be it as it shall be. this is life. this is what lums was in 2007 and i didn't like it. today i know this is what lums is, what life is, what this world is too, and i am content with it. content with the fact that everyone moves on. a kind of numbness, a level of apathy that shall remain. remain probably for good, for times to come.

and all this converges to one point, that we are bound in space and time, linear at best, hence we have the notions of remaining still or moving on. but the qudrah and the power that is outside of it, has our hearts in His Power, and we are just puppets. moving on, playing our part of the play.and all i know is we ought to play well. play well once, for once is all that there is, for the rest of eternity.

trying too hard?

if you don't try too hard for something, it can mean two things

either you are scared of failing and falling
or      because it's not worth you.

this thing called love. finally some personal remarks on it.

i have finally recognized and realized a lesson that i learn everyday, at a super-conscience level, and very rarely at conscience level

it is that the beauty of love is when it's hidden like a treasure. i can try, but i can never understand it myself, let alone put it in words.

and Allah Knows Best.

Ya Ilaahi!!!!!

In one of the nights,
I dont know what happened to me,
Darkness Covered me O my Rabb,
The earth has been narrowed, and (also) the sky,
and my heart haven't know the light,
And tears stayed, crying O my Ilaah

Ya Ilahi
ya Ilaahi
Ya Ilaahi

I committed a big sin,
And I am inside my sadness a captive,
Chained by the sin O my Rabb,
Does the sinner deserve forgiveness, O my Ilaah?

I admit my sins, O my Ilaah
You are the one who created, mercied and blessed me,
All the time You were with me, O my Rabb.
However, I went far away from You and forgot Your rights,
And walked on my way, O my Ilaah.

Y Ilaahi
Ya Ilaahi
Ya Ilaahi

And today O my Rabb,
I come back from a darkness beyond the boundaries,
The heart is broken and my sight is confused.
Ang I am sinking and see no one but You to rescue me,
No help except You,
O my Ilaah, O my Ilaah
